Renting an Apartment at Wynyard Quarter

If you are considering renting an apartment at Wynyard Quarter, be aware that there are limited opportunities, as the new developments are primarily targeted at owner occupiers. Having said that, some of the new owners are not yet ready to take possession, allowing a select number of tenants to call Wynyard Quarter home.

The Ultimate City Lifestyle

Living at Wynyard Quarter means the best of all worlds for residents fortunate enough to be moving into the new neighbourhood. The abundance of restaurants and cafes in the immediate area, many of them waterfront, mean that you will be spoilt for choice when you decide to eat out. However, the apartments have superbly appointed gourmet kitchens with the latest European appliances, for those who prefer to cook, or love to entertain.

Bounded by the largest marina in the southern hemisphere to the West, the vibrant Viaduct Harbour and CBD to the East and fronting arguably one of the best harbours in the World, Wynyard Quarter offers a unique Auckland lifestyle. Catch a ferry or a seaplane to the islands of the gulf, enjoy the waterfront walks and cycle ways, take in the markets and Silo waterfront Cinema or more formal ASB theatre, all within a short stroll of your new home.

Opportunities to Rent

A number of apartments in the first to be released ‘Pavilions’ development have already been leased and range from one bedroom through to a spacious 2 bedroom 2 bathroom penthouse. In general terms, these apartments are fully furnished, making it easy for tenants to move in when arriving in the neighbourhood, although unfurnished apartments are also available from time to time.

‘Artisan’ apartments (pictured above) and the adjoining brick townhouses are almost ready for occupation and it is anticipated that there may be a select number of opportunities to lease in this exciting new complex. Any apartments that we are aware of from time to time, will be listed here. We recommend prompt action if you see anything which you would like to view, as they are not expected to last long.

Making an Application

Applying for an apartment is a straightforward process and the successful tenant will be chosen on the basis of the ‘best applicant on merit’. Be prepared to provide suitable ID in the form of a Passport or NZ Drivers Licence, together with references from previous landlords or property managers, if you have a history of renting. Should you wish to proceed with a suitable property, a rental application can be located here.

Moving In

If you are moving to a fully furnished apartment, then it is almost as simple as bringing your clothes and stocking the fridge. You will need to arrange your utilities in advance (Electricity, Internet, and possble SKY TV and landline). Your property manager will be able to assist by providing an application form, authorising a free service to arrange all utility connections on your behalf, having discussed your requirements in advance.

If you are moving to an unfurnished apartment, then the building manager will need to be notified in advance of your move date, to enable protective lift curtains to be fitted on the day.

Your property manager or landlord will be able to give you an introductory tour of the common areas of the building and show you your allocated car park, if available.

Enjoy Your New Neighbourhood

Now that the rush of moving day is behind you, take time to relax and enjoy your new neighbourhood. Stretch out of the deck with a morning coffee or evening glass of wine and reflect on your success, in being one of the few tenants to call Wynyard Quarter home. Explore all that this stimulating area has to offer – it will only get better as time goes by.

Conclusion

Our associated company, Viaduct Harbour Rentals Limited, has been managing apartments in Viaduct Harbour for nearly 20 years and we look forward to working with both owners and intending tenants, as this new chapter in the history of the Auckland Waterfront takes shape.

Wynyard Quarter Welcomes First Residents

Wynyard Central - The Pavilions
A major milestone has been reached at Wynyard Quarter and represents an exciting day for the new residents.

Titles of the first stage of Wynyard Central, The Pavilions, have now been released by the Council – so expect plenty of activity over the next 2 weeks, as the new owners settle their apartments and commence the process of moving in.

The initial stage released, comprises 80 apartments with retail space on the ground floor and overlooks Daldy Street Park, a green oasis in the heart of the Wynyard Quarter. The apartments will shortly be followed by 25 free-standing pavilions and 8 townhouses to complete the development of 113 residences – the basis for a new lifestyle community, bordering the city, but within walking distance of everything that it offers.

These new apartments at Wynyard Central have been created to a high secification, including Miele appliances throughout, ducted airconditioning, permanent finishes and natural timber finishes to the common areas and apartment floors. The outdoor decks are wide, effectively an outdoor room, with sliding screens for privacy and shelter from the elements, if required. Facing the setting sun, evenings will be very pleasant here, if residents can resist the urge to dine out in one of the many eateries available on North Wharf or Jellicoe Street – all just a short stroll away on the water’s edge.

Apartment living has now come of age in Auckland, with increasing numbers of developments being targeted at owner occupiers, as people embrace the easy access to the amenity of Waitemata Harbour with transport links at their doorstep and the exciting cosmopolitan life of being part of one of the most liveable cities in the World.

The adjoining Viaduct Harbour emerged from an industrial wasteland nearly 20 years ago and offered premium apartment living, with the first defence of The America’s Cup as the catalyst. Wynyard Quarter now represents the next wave of this development and if all goes to plan, the next defence by Team New Zealand will be hosted at the front edge of this exciting new community.

A limited number of rental apartments may be available in The Pavilions, for those who would like a taste of living in this very special community, but we advise prompt action, if this is something you would like to experience.
